What is a Community Council?
Community Councils were set up by Aberdeenshire Council in to consult with the local community and make known to the local authority and other public bodies the views of local people on all matters affecting them.
The local authority, in turn has a duty to consult community council on how local services are delivered and other issues affecting our neighbourhood.
What Area Do we Cover?
FWCC essentially covers the geographic area to the west and south west of Banchory and serves the communities of Auchattie, Inchmarlo, Strachan and Tilquillie. The area covered by FWCC is shown in the map on this website (see below). The population of the FWCC area is currently estimated to be about 1300 persons.
FWCC has the right to be consulted on any planning applications in our area and are kept informed about licensing applications.
